This well grassed 18 hole course can be enjoyed all year round, and the many beautiful examples of Australian native flora lining the fairways are home to the prolific bird life.  Group bookings for golf are most welcome, and at reduced rates it certainly makes a great day out with friends and social club golfers.  Bunkers restaurant offers meals, and  catering is readily available for corporate, charity and social golf days.

Goldfields Reservoir

Built in 1862 it was the former water supply for the town, it is now used for boating and fishing.  However, due to drought, the lake is currently very low.  There is a picnic area amidst stands of eucalypts.  Enjoy the delightful 1.5 km walk through bush around the perimeter of the reservoir.

Lake Victoria is bordered by a recreation reserve, caravan park and camping area, an adventure playground, picnic-barbecue facilities and sports complex.  However, due to drought, the lake is currently very low.  It is bordered by Park Rd, Holyrood St, Burns St and Earl St.  Adjacent is Princes Park which features a timber rotunda built in 1904 for the town's golden jubilee.

Paddy's Ranges State Park (1675 ha) and Maryborough Regional Park (270 ha) are great places to see relics of the gold mining era. evidence is all around with mullock heaps and remnants of a once thriving Eucalyptus Distillery. The spring flowers are wonderful and the Golden Wattle blossoming amid the Box -Ironbark forest is a visual delight in springtime. There are over 230 species of wildflowers and about 30 Orchid varieties.

The natural features of the park provide plenty of low-impact recreational opportunities for walking, bird watching or spotting wildflowers. The park has numerous walking tracks, a picnic area and camping facilities with toilets,  a water tank and fireplaces for winter. Be sure to take note of any fire restrictions as current drought conditions make this a must. Fires must be confined to provided fireplaces.
Fauna in the park includes wallabies, kangaroo's and echidna's. Nocturnal species like possum's and antechinus are present but not easily spotted. The park is also home to the rare Brush-tailed Phascogale (Tuan).
Over 140 species of birds call Paddy's Ranges home including the rare Painted Honeyeater, Crested Bellbirds, Wedge tailed Eagles and Peregrine Falcons.
Fossicking is still allowed in certain areas which are clearly marked on the park maps a miners licence is essential. All domestic animals and firearms are strictly prohibited.

Phillips Botanical Gardens

Bordered by Napier, Inkerman and Alma Sts, features beautiful trees, shrubs and grassed picnic areas.  The lake was originally a dam for the supply of water for gold mining. The lake has recently been redesigned to include a new wetlands area and already the bird life in the area has increased. It is also home to the growling grass frog which can be heard rather than seen. The botanic gardens was first planted in the 1870s. It contains many interesting tree species.  A favourite picnic spot.

Cycle tracks

Located in the Central Victorian goldfields, the Dunolly Cycle Tracks are a series of signed forest roads and tracks varying in length between 14 to 47 kilometres. The area is rich in box ironbark fauna and flora, fascinating goldfields history and wonderful cycling conditions. Routes pass through the old gold towns of Dunolly, Tarnagulla, Bealiba, Waanyarra, Betley and Goldsborough. Attractions include quiet roads and tracks, a supermarket, pubs, cafe, caravan parks, motel, B&B and friendly locals.
