Central Goldfields Art Gallery is a cultural facility of Central Goldfields Shire Council.

The art gallery is situated in the picturesque historic fire station built in 1861, a short walk from the CBD.

The gallery presents a varied exhibition program which showcases local and regional artists, and includes touring exhibitions.

A selection from the permanent collection is exhibited in the Casey Room. This growing collection includes works by artists of regional and national significance, such as Arthur Boyd, Pro Hart, Dean Bowen and Ray Crooke.

Textile art from the biennial Golden Textures acquisitive exhibition, compliments the work from the existing collection. Community engagement is supported with an annual community art and craft exhibition and local schools’ VCE art and design.

If you would like to receive an invitation to the gallery’s exhibitions, via email, please contact us. For further information on current exhibitions or to download a copy of our yearly program of exhibitions, see below.

Admission to the gallery is free and a donation is gratefully accepted.

Opening hours are Thursday to Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Tour groups welcome all week, but bookings are essential

Tarli Glover - A survey show
1 July – 30 July 2017
The Central Goldfields Art Gallery presents the first survey exhibition of celebrated artist Tarli Glover, opening on 1 July 2017. Central Victorian based artist Tarli Glover, has been practicing professionally for over three decades and has exhibited widely throughout Australia.
Tarli’s survey exhibition, takes the viewer on an artistic journey through the landscape of Victoria and through the decades of her artistic career. Beginning with Tarli’s early experimentations as a budding artist, through to her confident and bold use of line and colour in recent works.

From the landscape in which we live, features four artists residing in Central Victoria.
Two of the artists are long term residents of Central Victoria, one until recently lived in Melbourne, another is an international immigrant. And although working in varied mediums of painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture these artists are inextricably linked by the regional Victorian landscape that inspires them.

Exhibition opening:
2.00pm Saturday 5 August 2017
All welcome.
