Central Goldfields Art Gallery is a cultural facility of Central Goldfields Shire Council.

The art gallery is situated in the picturesque historic fire station built in 1861, a short walk from the CBD.

The gallery presents a varied exhibition program which showcases local and regional artists, and includes touring exhibitions.

A selection from the permanent collection is exhibited in the Casey Room. This growing collection includes works by artists of regional and national significance, such as Arthur Boyd, Pro Hart, Dean Bowen and Ray Crooke.

Textile art from the biennial Golden Textures acquisitive exhibition, compliments the work from the existing collection. Community engagement is supported with an annual community art and craft exhibition and local schools’ VCE art and design.

If you would like to receive an invitation to the gallery’s exhibitions, via email, please contact us. For further information on current exhibitions or to download a copy of our yearly program of exhibitions, see below.

Admission to the gallery is free and a donation is gratefully accepted.

Opening hours are Thursday to Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Tour groups welcome all week, but bookings are essential

VCE Art and Design Exhibition

Current Exhibition

Our gardens may be hibernating for the winter but for four days in June, Central Goldfields Art Gallery in Maryborough, Central Victoria, will be filled with a gloriously fragrant exhibition in a unique collaboration of two modes of artistic expression; traditional art and floral design.

We invite you to view this unique exhibition from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June 2016.

Official opening Saturday 4th June at 2.00pm – all welcome.  To be officially opened by Louise Staley, MP, Member for Ripon.

Bloomin’ Art is the vision of celebrated floral designer Alan Randell-Smith (Winner of the Gold Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show, 1997).  Alan has assembled some of the finest floral designers to produce work for the exhibition.  Each designer has been allocated an artwork from the Gallery’s Collection to inspire their floral design.

Following the opening, a floral design demonstration will be held on Saturday 4 June at 3.30pm in the Maryborough Town Hall – right next to the art gallery.  This event is hosted by the Maryborough Branch of Australian Red Cross and is a ticketed event.  More details from Australian Red Cross on E: maryboroughredcross@mail.com.

Make your Windows Bloomin’ is another initiative of Alan Randell-Smith.  Seven businesses in Maryborough’s main streets will feature stunning floral displays in their stores.

Entry to the gallery is free, however a donation is gratefully accepted.  Exhibition dates: Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June 2016.  Gallery hours 10am to 4pm.  Old Fire Station Neill Street, Maryborough
